These projects were created through my ongoing freelance contributions to myaware, a UK charity supporting people my myasthenia. I've worked with their team on multiple design and communications initatives - from brand refresh proposals, to awareness campaigns and supporter resources.

BJGP awareness advert for myaware

BJGP Awareness Advert

Health communications · Print advertising · Published nationally

Context A full-page awareness advert created for myaware and published in the British Journal of General Practice, aimed at helping GPs recognise symptoms of myasthenia and signpost patients to specialist support. The piece needed to communicate clearly within a professional medical context while remaining approachable and empathetic.

What I did I rebuilt low-resolution legacy assets for print, refined visual hierarchy and typography, and ensured strong legibility and accessibility throughout. The design used subtle human imagery and a compassionate tone to highlight the patient experience while maintaining clinical credibility.

Impact The advert delivered a confident, evidence-based message to a national medical audience and directed readers to myaware’s GP Resource Centre, strengthening awareness of the condition and reinforcing the charity’s reputation as a trusted source of medical-patient communication resources.

Self-Advocacy Awareness Series

Context I designed a suite of self-advocacy resources created to help people living with myasthenia communicate more confidently with healthcare professionals. The written content was produced by myaware’s team and subject experts, and my role was to transform it into a set of clear, accessible, and on-brand materials - including introductory guides, symptom-tracking templates, and a dictionary of medical terminology - that formed a cohesive toolkit for awareness and empowerment.

What I did I focused on the visual design, layout, and accessibility of each resource, ensuring consistency across the series while maintaining readability and emotional warmth. This involved structuring content for easy navigation, applying myaware’s colour palette and typography, developing simple iconography, and ensuring all text and visual elements met accessibility best practices for both digital and print use.

Impact The completed series gave myaware a professional, unified set of educational tools to share through awareness campaigns, outreach events, and digital channels. By presenting complex information in a clear, inclusive, and visually supportive way, the materials helped make self-advocacy more approachable for individuals and carers, while reinforcing myaware’s role as a trusted, empowering voice for the myasthenia community.

Branding Board for the myJourney Fundraising Campaign

Context I designed a series of fundraising graphics for myaware to support seasonal giving campaigns and encourage community participation throughout the year. These included general donation appeals, themed seasonal assets, and adaptable templates for supporters to share on social media or in local fundraising materials. Each piece needed to communicate warmth, trust, and inclusivity while remaining recognisably on-brand.

What I did I created a consistent visual identity for the campaign by combining myaware’s colour palette and logo with friendly typography, clear messaging, and simple iconography. I produced social-media-ready images for Facebook, Instagram, and X. For the seasonal graphics, I incorporated thematic elements (e.g. snowflakes, presents) that complemented the brand rather than overwhelming it, ensuring everything felt recognisable across platforms.

Impact The visuals helped myaware strengthen supporter engagement during key fundraising periods, providing the team with a reusable library of professional, accessible graphics that could be tailored to different campaigns. The initiative improved the consistency of the charity’s digital presence and gave staff flexible tools to promote events and appeals across the year.
